Source shape and collimation

Dear all,
is it possible to shape the source in order to have a rectangular footprint (2d fov), as in the case of CT or radiography? Are there any examples?

Thanks for the help

Hi,
Yes it is possible, you have a complete example of CT in the manual:
https://doc.ggems.fr/v1.2/example_2.html

And also a description of the source:
https://doc.ggems.fr/v1.2/sources.html

Kind regards
Didier

Dear Didier,
thanks for you previous answer. Actually I want to irradiate a square detector, but the primary footprint is circular defined by the beam aperture (ex. xray_source.set_beam_aperture(12.5, ‘deg’)). I would like to digitalli collimate generated photons in order to irradiate the detector exclusively. Is it this possible?

thank you for your support
Antonio

Hi Antonio,
If you want to irradiate only the detector region it’s impossible, the cone-beam source is circular. The best way is to compute a adapted “beam_aperture” for you detector, you will have some useless photons, but is the best strategy I think.
Kind regards
Didier
